The Value of Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI)
- Painless
- Radiation free
- Non-contact
- Non-invasive
- Effective and sensitive screening tool
Thermal Imaging is a very sensitive and reliable means of graphically mapping and displaying skin surface temperature that mirrors internal heat patterns.
It is primarily a test of function (rather than a test of structure), reflected by underlying changes in metabolic and physiological processes within a given area. An important aspect of thermal imaging is the early detection of asymmetrical changes in any given area.
It takes years for a tumour to develop so the earliest possible detection of abnormality allows for the earliest possible intervention and treatment.
Early abnormalities found in DITI do not always mean cancer but all cancers start as abnormalities.
Below are examples of what DITI can show:

Thermographic scans of the breast that are suspicious looking clearly demonstrate abnormal areas of heat, reflecting abnormality of physiology or metabolic activity within the breast. It need not be cancer – it could be an infection, fibrocystic, inflammatory or more commonly, lymph congestion or estrogen dominance.
An abnormal infrared thermal image is the single most important marker of high risk for developing breast cancer, much more so than a family history of breast cancer.
