Common observations from screening with Functional Biochemistry includes:

Throughout her holistic medical practice, Dr Shamim Daya has observed a number of common factors emerging from the use of her functional biochemistry screening:

  • Zinc deficiency commonly lies at the root of dizziness and vertigo, as well as a tendency to repeated fungal overgrowth and infections
  • Zinc appears to be a valuable nutrient to support the prostate and has also been seen to assist with the synthesis and breakdown of certain key hormones
  • Metal toxicity can often show on the skin with irritation and rashes of unknown origin
  • Metal toxicity also commonly shows as bladder symptoms, suggesting that the urinary tract is an important elimination route for these toxins
  • Metal toxicity commonly blocks the energy pathway causing symptoms of fatigue and tiredness
  • The bladder meridian is associated with low serotonin and feelings of depression which can be corrected once the missing nutrient is found and administered
  • Parasites and fungus can also create chemical toxins that commonly cause symptoms such as itchy eyes and foggy head, as well as abdominal symptoms
  • Early stages of abnormal cervical smears can be linked to a virus or nutrient deficiency – commonly folic acid
  • A significant number of skin problems can be due to irritation in the gut, or lack of a nutrient
  • Sensitive dry skin can be caused by lack of essential fatty acids
  • Constipation can be caused by lack of water, poor diet and lifestyle or lack of magnesium
  • Mouth ulcers can arise from a lack of vitamin B6
  • Gum recession may be due to lack of folic acid
