TESTS
How we look for solutions

The body is a delicate and intricate balance of interactions on many levels.
Given that one method of testing such as conventional, standard blood tests, X-rays and scans may be helpful, especially in more acute cases, they also provide very limited information when looking at the broader perspective of the whole body and all the different levels that exist for accessing valuable information, which become more relevant for early detection or in helping with chronic diseases.
With our wholistic approach, once we have excluded any obvious acute pathology, using conventional methods of testing, we try to answer two fundamentally important questions:
1) What is currently the most stressed organ in a person?
2) What is the best remedy to help correct this main focus of disturbance?
To help answer these questions, we offer the following tests to provide essential and specific information from different perspectives:

Functional Biochemistry
|
Functional Biochemistry Testing - this session is based on a method called Clinical Applied Kinesiology which uses the principle that each of us is unique, the body does not lie and therefore when used as part of a circuit in testing for specific and important bio-chemical pathways with their vital cofactors, it can be a valuable tool for providing information difficult to find using other methods of testing.
A simple way to find that missing vital nutrient that will clear blocked pathways within the body including helping the liver to detoxify more effectively.
More importantly this is a brilliant way of finding and giving exactly the right ingredient, nutrient or co-factor for that individual to enable them to naturally bring their enzyme pathways up to optimum and functional levels.
With the human body being so capable of healing itself all it often needs and is desperate for is that missing vital nutrient to see this process through.
The question is, “what is this vital nutrient that is specifically deficient in you that will help your body to return back to normal health?”
|
 |
The most popular and common reason for using this method of testing in our clinic is to find that key nutrient or co-factor that will clear any blocked pathways especially those involved with the breakdown of certain hormones, even those that we produce naturally ourselves, but more importantly when being prescribed hormone replacement therapy.
Another common finding is that some people show intolerant to too many foods, which is not acceptable for practical living and on testing, we find this is often caused by some irritation to the gut by the presence of parasites, fungus or metal toxicity. Once these are detected and cleared a lot of the previous food intolerance disappears.
Some important questions this method of testing can help to answer are:
- Is something overwhelming your body such as a virus, parasite, fungus, metal toxicity, chemical sensitivity or radiation?
- Which foods are you most intolerant to?
- Do you have structural blockages or imbalances that are a priority to helping your healing process?
- Which neurotransmitter such as Serotonin, Dopamine, Adrenaline or Noradrenalin do you have an imbalance of and which nutrients can help correct this imbalance?
- Which DNA/genetic weaknesses are you carrying that may influence disease processes and is there something that can help to overcome this?
- Are there emotional issues overwhelming the body’s healing process?
|

|
Although information gathered from this method of testing can be extremely valuable, especially in trying to focus on priorities and a starting point in the healing process, like any other method of testing, it is not meant to be used in isolation but alongside other more conventional diagnostic tests.
It gives us helpful clues and explanations especially when other more conventional methods of testing do not reveal the whole picture, which is why we incorporate this method amongst others in our clinic.
It is also important that your session is supervised by a medical doctor so as not to miss any important areas that need addressing in different ways. It is for this reason that these sessions are part of a combined Team clinic session where Dr Daya is present at all times.

Electro-dermal screening
|
This method of testing helps to detect physiological and energetic imbalances in the body by measuring the skin resistance (electrical changes) in the meridian system which ends on the hands and feet.
Each meridian supplies or represents a specific organ and this fast, simple, pain-free screening not only prioritises which organ system needs treating first, but also helps to identify the most compatible remedy required to correct the imbalance.
|
 |
This screening tool is particularly good for identifying disturbances of gut function, especially the need for adequate digestive enzymes, the presence of viruses, fungi or parasites and provides an indication of the state of other key organs, namely the spleen, liver, gall bladder, lymphatic system and circulation - all of which are difficult to measure or detect with conventional methods of testing.

Hair Mineral Analysis
|
Hair Mineral analysis is an analytical test that reveals the mineral composition of hair, mirroring on one level the chemistry or relationship of minerals within the body.
Correct interpretation provides the practitioner with indications of imbalances of the many essential minerals and toxic metals to establish the nutritional status and subsequent treatment appropriate for that person.

Hair is the second most metabolically active tissue and its analysis will reveal significant variations in the nutritional and endocrine status of a patient well before abnormalities in the blood can be found. It will often also disclose information and results that would not be apparent from more conventional diagnostic tests.
Minerals play a key role in our biological systems and interrelate with other nutrients in the body to ensure they are effectively utilised. These minerals are necessary activators or constituents of enzymes and are also essential for hormone production.
It is vital to analyse not only the mineral levels, but also the ratios to give a truer evaluation of mineral interrelationships. For example, the iron level may seem normal but when measured in relation to copper, an actual iron deficiency may be found.
This test is uniquely helpful as it is an extremely effective and reliable way of determining tendencies to specific problems as well as indicating the speed of metabolism, the functioning of the thyroid and adrenal glands, deficiencies of certain important minerals and toxic metal exposure.
Being painless and non-invasive, Hair Mineral Analysis is ideal for testing nutrient imbalances and the presence of toxic metals in children.

Saliva Hormone Profiles
|
Saliva contains the free fraction of the hormones which reflects the true bioactive tissue levels. Free fractions in saliva correlate more closely with clinical symptoms than total hormone blood serum levels, which mostly reflect the bound fraction.
It is important and necessary to not only establish a base line measure of one’s hormone levels but also to monitor the levels of prescribed hormones, especially in terms of the balance between one hormone and another as well in ensuring that these hormones are being adequately broken down and fully eliminated from the body.
As there are different saliva hormone profiles to choose from Dr Daya will select the most appropriate profile for you based on you medical history and presentation.
The Female Hormone Panel is a dynamic mapping of the bioactive levels of Estradiol and Progesterone throughout one cycle. It also includes a cycle average value for Free Testosterone and DHEA. This panel uses 11 saliva samples collected during specified time slots throughout the menstrual cycle.

Post-menopaual Saliva Profile
|
The Post Menopause Panel is used for measuring hormone baselines in the peri-menopause and menopausal stages, monitoring natural hormone replacement therapy, as well as checking risk assessment of breast/uterine proliferative diseases and osteoporosis. It is also useful as a tool for investigating many hormone related symptoms.
|

Male Saliva Profile
|
The Male Hormone Panel evaluates the androgen pathway by measuring the free fractions of the 6 major hormones involved in a man. The aging process is inevitable, even in men and restoring lost male vitality or relieving andropausal symptoms is simple to address with the correct administration and balance of their hormone levels. Commonly in men, excessive levels of estrones relative to testosterone levels are thought to be a contributory factor to the development of prostate problems.
|
Specialised Urine Hormone Profile
|
This is a reliable and accurate measure of not only up to 9 essential hormones but also clearly demonstrates the ratios and imbalances between them. This makes it essential and helpful in the assessment and prescribing of Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy in Men and Women.

The Neurological profile (below) is a useful means of assessing not only specific neuro-transmitter levels, including Serotonin and Dopamine, but also indicates important information relating to other prime organ function including the gut, liver, pancreas, adrenal and immune system. This makes it an excellent tool for scanning the body on a functional rather than an anatomical basis.

Dark Field Microscopy
|
Looking at a drop of fresh blood taken from a simple finger prick under a special microscope can be quite revealing as it mirrors the state of the body on a more cellular level. It can show the quality of your blood in terms of its vitality, its stickiness or clumpiness, the integrity of the cell walls, the presence of liver stress, dehydration, as well as indications of folic acid and Vitamin B12 deficiencies.
|
 |
Dry blood analysis also offers important information about toxic metal exposure, free radical damage as well as toxins present within the colon.
There is nothing more convincing than seeing the components of your own blood live on the screen. It is also encouraging to see for yourself the difference on a microscopic level after a few months of treatment including simple lifestyle changes.

Traditional Chinese Medical Diagnosis
|
This long tested and ancient method of diagnosis uses simple observational skills, together with the pulse and tongue, as important tools to mirror or reflect a persons inner state of being/terrain. It helps to provide a different perspective on the state of key organs, namely the liver, spleen, stomach, kidney, lung and heart.
|
 |
The interface between the physical body and the higher energetic systems is formed by the acupuncture meridian system. Energetic dysfunction at the physical level is reflected by imbalances in the meridians of the body.
Traditional Chinese Medicine places great importance on the terrain or inner climate within the body and for this reason, it is a good method to consider in the assessment of a health problem, be it an under active thyroid, exhaustion, hot flushes, insomnia, skin rashes, eczema or acne.

Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI)
|
Especially useful for breast screening, DITI is a non-invasive means of detecting sensitive temperature changes within and between the two breasts, which is considered an early indicator for abnormal physiological and metabolic changes taking place.
|
|
|
Early abnormalities do not mean breast cancer but all cancers start as abnormalities.
For more information, please see our separate DITI section. |

Contact Reflex Analysis (CRA)
|
This health scan technique provides access to stored information in the body's computer. It uses the electrical pathways of the body, including the nervous and meridian systems to obtain information about the organs, glands, muscles, bones and other body tissues.
Structural, chemical and emotional traumas that the body has accumulated can pile up like layers in the body.
Using CRA one can identify which layer needs to be addressed first. As each layer is resolved, the body presents the next layer to be dealt with. This amazingly accurate method eliminates any guesswork both in establishing which is the most stressed organ and which is the best-suited remedy for this.
|
 |
CRA is a marvellous preventative technique used to find a problem before it becomes a full blown health issue.
Hundreds of miles of nerves carry electrical energy and connect with every organ, gland muscle and tissue. When the body becomes ill there is an interruption of nerve energy to these reflexes. The reflex, when tested, will act similar to a circuit breaker under an overload.
To test a reflex, the practitioner will use the patients arm muscle as a circuit indicator. When the tester's fingertip comes near or touches a healthy reflex, the arm muscle will remain strong indicating that nerve energy is flowing freely. However, if the arm muscle is suddenly weak, and the tester can easily push the patient's arm down, a “hot circuit breaker” has been located indicating that the nerve energy has been interrupted. Using this reflex information, the practitioner will know if the problem is structural, chemical or emotional and the same method is used then to select the best remedy be it homeopathic, herbal, nutritional or even a suggestion to visit a cranio-sacral osteopath.
